Before progressing onto what is required to perform colon cleansing one must be made aware of the fact that it can be done either externally or it can be done internally. The external method entails the intake of herbs and drugs orally with a change in the diet but the internal method involves the use of devices to penetrate the rectum directly into the colon and deal with the cleaning from inside.
In the invasive method through the rectum, water is the most commonly used injection medium in which herbs are laced so that it properly disinfects the colon. Sometimes alcohol is also used but this is not advised because of its dehydrating effects. In oral supplements, the use of laxatives, oral herbs and the intake of dietary fibers are well known mediums of colon cleansing. They can be used together or can be used separately. These methods are very effective in colon cleansing but they are also known to be associated with some amount of criticism on whether it is required by the body or not.
